About Ashurst Wood Village Centre

The Village Centre is at 20-24 Maypole Road, Ashurst Wood, East Grinstead RH19 3SD.
It was built in 1930 and officially opened in January 1931 as St Dunstan’s Hall. It later became the Village Centre and the freehold of the building was purchased by Ashurst Wood Village Council from the Church of England in 2009.

A separate extension was added to the Centre during 2015-2016. This houses the office and meeting room for Ashurst Wood Village Council.

The Trustees

Ashurst Wood Village Centre is a registered charity (number 277827) which was set up to provide and maintain a village hall for the benefits of the residents of Ashurst Wood and surrounding areas.

The Village Hall is leased from the Village Council and managed and run by the charity Trustees and volunteers; who all give their time for free to benefit the local community.

There is an ongoing maintenance and improvement programme, which ensures that the hall is kept in good repair.

How to Get Involved

If you would like to get involved, or are even just thinking about it, then please contact us. Additional help is always welcome, whether you wish to be a volunteer or join as a Trustee. The committee meets once every two months and meetings normally do not exceed 40 minutes.

About the Hall

The hall is well-equipped, with a stage, a wooden floor, fitted kitchen, male, female and disabled toilets.

Hall users have access to free WiFi and a Hearing Loop.

There is a small car park in front of the building.

The hall is in regular use by the local community. Currently there is a great variety of activities offered including Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Choir, Short Mat Bowls, Taekwondo, music lessons and ballet classes.

We hire out the Hall for various different social and community events, and it is ideal for exhibitions, parties, wedding receptions, club meetings etc.

Parties for 14-22 year olds are not permitted.

Unlike most halls, we allow hirers 30 minutes free of charge to set up before and clear up after their event.
